China: Hainan International Art Trading Center Launched In Support Of the FTP

The Hainan International Art Trading Center was launched by China which was a step from the master plan the country developed to boost the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP). It is located in south China’s Hainan Province in Haikou.

As per the local authorities, it was announced that the Hainan International Art Trading Center is among the main projects that were initiated during the construction of the Free Trade Port.

The Hainan International Art trading Center is backed by the cultural departments and central authorities of the country. The announcement was made by the authorities during the opening ceremony of the China Culture and Museum Industry Development Conference held on Saturday.

In the new Art Trading Center, there is an online international art trading platform, along with eight functional sub-centers on-site. These sub-centers include the logistics center, the financial center, the central art business center, and the big data center.

The Hainan International Art Trading center will aim to become the new international hotspot for global art trading. It will achieve it by providing services from integrated business formats and sectors. The sectors it would cover would include culture, finance, technology, and tourism to the entire international art industry chain of the country.

Wang Yong, the Hainan International Art Trading Center’s chairman talked about the benefits that FTP brings to China. He stated that the benefits that the FTP brings to China along with the support from national policies make Hainan the perfect place. The FTP and the policies will provide elements such as talent terms, capital flow, logistics, and other facilitating features that will make the project successful.

The Center’s chairman further stated that this new center will become a platform that allows the dual circulation of international as well as domestic artworks. The Hainan Free Trading Port will also have support for its construction from artists, collectors, and museums from the platform that will be established in the center.

Another area that the Center will serve will be to become a platform of diverse organizations. These organizations include the China Overseas Returned Cultural Relic and Artworks Collection and Exhibition Center, International Cultural Relics Exchange Platform in Hainan. Furthermore, the China Cultural and Museum Industry Development Think Tank are also included in the list.

A series of cooperation agreements have also been signed strategically by the Center. These agreements are between more than 10 institutions. These include agreements with the Silk Road International Chamber of Commerce. The Software Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, etc. which will help in enhancing the multi-channel cooperation on the exchanges that facilitate international cultural art trading.

In April, a master plan that mentioned the different ways the construction of the Hainan Free Trading Port was released by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce.

It was also promised in the plan to provide proper policies for facilitating customs clearance, logistics, etc.
