Earnings of Berkshire Hathaway Experience a Surge, Stock Prices Continue Rising

The operating income of Berkshire Hathaway has continued experiencing a surge ever since the pandemic has started fading away from all over the world. Although the pandemic is not fully controlled, yet it has given enough space to people so the businesses could come back to normal.

As a result of the above, Berkshire Hathaway has experienced a surge in its businesses. The company has been making profits and generating high revenues due to the economy making a comeback.

The conglomerate just went ahead and shared its earnings report for the second quarter of 2021 on Saturday, July 31, 2021. In the earnings report, the firm has reported that it has experienced a surge in its operating earnings.

According to reports, the conglomerate has recorded $6.69 billion worth of operating earnings for Q2 2021. The firm has revealed that this is a 21% increase from the same quarter but from a year back. In the second quarter of 2020, the firm had reported that it had recording operating earnings worth $6.69 billion.

The firm has also gone ahead and provided details around its overall earnings. The overall earnings also provide information around the equity investments of Berkshire Hathaway that are constantly fluctuating. The firm has revealed that it has been observing a 6.8% year-over-year increase. Now, the fluctuating investments of the company in the second quarter of 2021 were $28 billion.

The report showed that Warren Buffett, the CEO and Chairman at Berkshire Hathaway adopted an aggressive approach in buying back the company’s shares. The report also revealed that Berkshire did not go for the acquisition of companies. Instead, he went for the repurchasing of stocks.

According to information, Warren Buffett reportedly purchased $6 billion worth of stocks that belonged to Berkshire Hathaway. Buffett executed these many repurchases of stocks for the second quarter of 2021. However, Buffett did not aggressively buy stocks in the last three months but he did it in the quarter prior to the second one as well.

In the first quarter of 2021, Buffett went ahead with the repurchasing of $6.6 billion worth of the company’s shares. This means that in the last six months, Buffett has re-purchased $12.6 billion worth of company shares.

Compared to the last year, Buffett has only purchased half the number of shares than he did in the last year. In the year 2020, Buffett had purchased a total of $24.7 billion shares of Berkshire.

Since the economy has been making a comeback, the share prices for the company are constantly experiencing a rise. Since the beginning of the third quarter of 2021, Berkshire’s share price has experienced a 2% increase.
